Why You Should Start Chasing Your Dreams (aka The Dream Chaser Manifesto)

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake up in the day to find it was vanity, but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.” ― T.E. Lawrence

What if the “God” you believe in came up to you today and gave you a guarantee that in the future all your dreams would come true?

How would your beliefs about what is possible change? Most likely you would feel ecstatic and excited about your future! You would be unstoppable and able to deal with any challenge you had to face!

Psychologically, you would be totally committed to your dreams and would start doing whatever it would take! What if you didn’t have to have a spiritual experience or to sign on the dotted line of the contract of your dreams for them to come true?

Why not start telling yourself today that your dreams can be manifested, instead of waiting for some supernatural sign? You are meant to have dreams and desires. It is these dreams and desires that make you feel most alive and engaged in life.

Are you ready to be free and feel alive!? Are you ready to be a dream chaser!? No matter who you are there is a dream somewhere inside of you. Even if it’s a small dream, or is far removed from your current reality, the joy and inspiration is still worth pursuing.

There is no dream too big or too small. A dream chaser comes in all shapes and sizes and resides at all levels of life. When you were a child I’m sure you had numerous dreams and hopes for your life. Why not keep that dreaming spirit alive? Whether you’re old, young, rich, poor, etc., there is something that you want that will improve your life experience. What is it you want? It can be anything.

“You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us. And the world will live as one.” ― John Lennon

Be Willing to Dream

So many people have lost touch with their natural capacity to dream. They have no imagination left. They are stuck in the black and white world of reality and rationality.

This makes perfect sense since most of us aren’t told to follow our dreams. We are told instead to do what is practical and prudent. We do what everyone else does instead of what makes us feel excited and stoked about life!

“Without leaps of imagination or dreaming, we lose the excitement of possibilities. Dreaming, after all is a form of planning.” ― Gloria Steinem

Most people end up letting their dreams go and watch them float away like a balloon in the wind, but can you blame them? Many of us are surrounding by people who will quickly and gladly shut down our dreams if we share them. We are ostracized for having our head in the clouds or being detached from reality if we actually express what we want.

In Matthew Kelly’s book Dream Manager he shares that baby circus elephants spend the first year of their lives tethered to a stake in the ground by a 6-foot length of rope around their leg. After that, a trainer can control them with a thin nylon cord tied to the same leg because the elephant thinks it can’t go any farther than the rope allows. We are just like the elephant.

We are conditioned from our circumstances and environment. We hold ourselves back because we don’t believe we can have, do, and be more. Stop holding yourself back and allow yourself to dream again! What hopes and desires do you have for your life? You deserve great things!

Dreams are not fantasies

Being a dream chaser isn’t about having some crazy or outlandish vision for your life. Dreams are not the same as living in a fantasy world. A fantasy is completely unreal. Dreams are completely possible when we have the right mindset.

Being a dream chaser is about being open, feeling free, and fully expressing your creativity. It is about connecting with what is most important and fundamental to your life and enhancing that. It is about connecting with your passions and gifts and finding a realistic way to use these God given superpowers!

“At the age of six I wanted to be a cook. At seven I wanted to be Napoleon. And my ambition has been growing steadily ever since.” ― Salvador Dalí

Dreams come in all shapes and sizes. Your dream might be to go back to school, to be a rock star, or to live in Ecuador. Your dream might be to own your own boat or have a family.

Dreams don’t have to be off the charts of feasibility. A dream just needs to inspire you and get you engaged in life! When dreams die so does our spirit and soul. Life becomes draining and boring. We succumb to a “this is it” type of mentality.

Dreams keep us expanding the depth of our life. So, it’s time to start dreaming again. Are you ready to be a dream chaser?

Your dream is your joy

Living your dreams is about feeling joy and waking up every day fully alive. Again, don’t confuse following your dream with some huge life-changing experience. Following your dream is more of an mindset. It is a mindset that you can have and do more of what you want. If feels totally liberating and exciting.

There is joy in creating and expressing our desires. Being a dream chaser will make you feel alive and make you want to expand and become a better person. If you want more joy, passion, excitement never stop dreaming!

“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” – Eleanor Roosevelt

Are you ready?

Make a list of all the dreams you have! Don’t leave anything off the list, no matter how big or small it might be. List all of your dreams! List what excites you, what is most important to you, and what would expand your life! Is it a relationship? A dream job? A new car? A desire to be healthier? A vacation or trip you want to take? A celebrity you want to meet?

Open up to the possibility that you can have, do, and be what you want! After you make a list of your dreams break them down into three categories

Dreams you can live in 3 months, 1-5 years, and 5 years or more.

Yes, there are both short-term and long-term dreams. Start where you can, create a strategy, and start taking steps toward living your dreams!

You are in charge of the life you live and what you experience! Get involved in creating the life you want! Stop holding back!

“Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!” – Goethe
